RIce Pyramids in Cairo

A trip to Egypt is not complete until a visit to the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. We had lunch in the restaurant right next to the Pyramids, in the Mena House Oberoi. The rice came in the shape of a pyramid. We had the Bamia Tagen (okra slow cooked in tomato sauce) and Kebab and Kofta (char-grilled lamb and minced lamb skewers).

In the bustling Khan-Al Khalili souk, we went to the restaurant of the same name and had a wonderful spread of appetizers - tahini, Egyptian Falafel (Ta'amia), hummus and more, served with a generous portion of pita breads. And we topped of the nite with Roz bil-Laban, a delicious rice pudding with shaved cinnamon and cocoa powder on top.
